What is Music Therapy?

Since the beginning of time, music has had a profound affect on human behavior.  It has allowed us to tap into emotion, and to express ourselves in endless ways.  Music, as a nonverbal means of communication, can help heal, calm, make us happy, and release anger.

Music Therapy as a definition is the scientific appplication of the art of music to accomplish therapeutic aims; the restoration, maintenance, and improvement of mental and physical health.

What Can Music Do For You?

  • Music is a form of nonverbal communication -- it creates self expression and creativity.
  • It can fill the void and make communication easier
  • Music makes us feel good
  • Music helps with: Structure, Meditation, Movement, Religion, Anger, Self Esteem, Memory, Pain, Behavior, Injury, Hearing, Speech, etc.
